The 10 Funnest Nintendo Switch Games You Must Play

Whether you’re new to the Nintendo Switch or have been gaming for years, these are my top ten funnest  games you have to play. Each one is different. From RPGs to puzzle games to simulation to adventure. But they all have one thing in common...they’re just so fun and enjoyable to play.

These are the games that pulled me in. The ones that made me lose track of time. The ones that reminded me why I love gaming.

1. Eastward

Eastward is an action-adventure RPG set in a world buried underground. You play as John and Sam, two characters living in a society slowly being consumed by a deadly miasma. Together, they explore the ruins of a collapsing world, solving puzzles, fighting monsters, and discovering what really happened to the surface.

You can switch between both characters, and each has unique abilities that help you progress through the story. There’s cooking, exploring, and a cast of quirky characters that you’ll instantly grow attached to.

The pixel art is absolutely stunning. Detailed, warm, and so nostalgic. It feels alive. And when you finish the main game, there’s also a DLC called Eastward Octopia. It’s a farming simulation where John and Sam get to live peacefully, tending animals and cooking cozy meals. It’s so wholesome and relaxing. I still can’t believe it’s only $5.99.

Playing this game felt like being part of a living story...magical, emotional, and beautiful from start to finish.

2. Holy Potatoes! Compendium

This is one of the funniest, most charming collections I’ve ever played. The Holy Potatoes! Compendium includes three simulation games. What the Hell?!, We’re in Space?!, and A Weapon Shop?!

Each one offers a different world to explore. You can run your own weapon shop, manage a spaceship, or cook for the gods in the Afterlife. Every game has its own style, but all of them are filled with hilarious dialogue, charming characters, and genuinely fun gameplay loops.

My favorite was Holy Potatoes! What the Hell?!, where you play as a chef in the Afterlife...literally cooking potato sinners into dishes for the gods. You manage your cooking stations, upgrade your kitchen, and sort your customers to keep up with demand. It’s chaotic, clever, and surprisingly strategic.

The humor is unmatched. I found myself laughing through the dialogue, and it’s one of those games you can pick up for a few minutes...then suddenly it’s two hours later.

It’s weirdly comforting and endlessly fun. A must-play if you love simulation games with a side of humor.

3. Ooblets

Ooblets is a life simulation and farming game that’s just pure joy.

You start your new life in a cozy seaside town called Badgetown, where you’ll grow crops, collect adorable little creatures called Ooblets, and join in dance battles to earn rewards and level up your team.

The Ooblets themselves are ridiculously cute. Each one has its own personality and animation style. You’ll spend time exploring nearby regions, completing quests, and meeting the quirky townsfolk who make this world so special.

The dance battles are turn-based card matches that are more fun than competitive. You don’t have to be a card-game person to enjoy them. The music, the rhythm, the little dance moves...it’s all catchy.

I loved customizing my outfits, upgrading my house, and decorating my farm. It’s a game that feels like comfort. Relaxing, colorful, and just full of happiness.

4. Littlewood

In Littlewood, the story begins after the big battle. The dark wizard has been defeated, the world is saved, and now it’s time to rebuild.

You play as the hero who no longer has to fight...but instead gets to create. You design your town from the ground up, choosing where houses, rivers, and markets go. You gather resources, fulfill villager requests, and bring life back to the land of Solemn.

There’s fishing, mining, crafting, cooking, and even romance. You can date the townsfolk, build relationships, and eventually get married.

The art is cute, the music is peaceful, and the world is small enough to feel cozy but full enough to stay interesting. It’s the kind of game that makes you want to make a cup of tea and just exist in it for hours.

5. The Touryst

At first glance, The Touryst looks like a lighthearted vacation game. You arrive on a tropical island, ready to explore, swim, surf, and party. But once you dig deeper, there’s something mysterious hiding beneath all that sunshine.

You’ll visit multiple islands, each with its own theme and secrets. You can hit the arcade, go diving, or explore ancient monuments filled with puzzles and hidden clues.

The puzzles are clever but not frustrating, which made the whole experience fun instead of stressful. I got stuck a few times, but it was always satisfying when I figured it out.

The art is voxel-style 3D, bright and colorful, and it gives everything this cheerful, toy-like feel. It’s quick to play through, but it’s packed with charm.

It felt like the perfect mix of vacation and puzzle solving and super fun!

6. Two Point Campus

If you love simulation games, Two Point Campus is a must. It’s from the same creators as Theme Hospital, which was one of my favorite PC games growing up.

This time, you’re in charge of building your own university. You design classrooms, libraries, and dorms. Hire professors and staff. Set up clubs and student events. And of course, deal with all the silly chaos that comes with it.

What makes it extra fun are the courses. You can teach Knight School (where students learn to joust), Wizardry (yes, like magic school), or Culinary Arts (where giant pizzas and desserts come to life). It’s wacky and wonderful.

The humor carries the whole thing. It’s funny, creative, and oddly relaxing even when things go off the rails.

It reminded me why I fell in love with simulation games in the first place.

7. Kirby and the Forgotten Land

This game is pure fun from start to finish.

You play as Kirby, exploring a mysterious post-apocalyptic world where nature has overtaken civilization. You rescue Waddle Dees, battle colorful bosses, and explore new areas filled with hidden secrets.

Kirby’s copy abilities make the gameplay feel fresh every time. You inhale enemies to gain powers like sword, fire, ice, and even ranger. And the new Mouthful Mode lets Kirby inhale entire objects...like a car. Or a vending machine. It’s hilarious and adorable.

The Waddle Dee Town adds an extra layer of charm. It grows as you progress, giving you mini-games, shops, and places to relax between levels.

The visuals are gorgeous, and the gameplay is perfect for both beginners and experienced players.

It’s a warm, happy kind of game that just makes you feel good while playing.

8. Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury

One of my absolute favorite Mario games ever!

This combo pack gives you two adventures in one. Super Mario 3D World is a colorful, fast-paced platformer where you can play as Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, or Rosalina. Every level feels unique, and the cat-suit power-up is not only adorable but genuinely useful.

Then there’s Bowser’s Fury. It’s a completely new open-world Mario experience where Bowser has gone full chaos mode. You team up with Bowser Jr. to collect Cat Shines, restore balance, and face off against the biggest Bowser you’ve ever seen.

I loved every minute of it. It’s pure fun, never stressful, and full of that classic Nintendo magic.

9. The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening

A true classic brought beautifully back to life.

You play as Link, who wakes up on the mysterious Koholint Island after a storm. To escape, you must explore dungeons, solve puzzles, and awaken the Wind Fish, a dreamlike adventure full of charm and heart.

The art style is gorgeous. Everything looks like a handcrafted toy set, and it gives the game this nostalgic, comforting feel. The soundtrack is one of my favorites of all time. It instantly took me back to my childhood playing on the NES.

It’s not the longest Zelda game, but it’s one of the most memorable. I finished it in about 2 days because I couldn’t put it down.

10. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

If you love puzzle games, this one’s for you.

You play as Toad and later Toadette, exploring small, cube-shaped levels where every angle hides a secret. You rotate the camera, pluck plants, and collect treasures while avoiding traps and enemies.

Each level is short but packed with clever design. It’s one of those games that makes you feel smart when you finish a level.

The story follows Toad’s mission to reclaim his stolen treasure from Wingo, a greedy giant bird. It’s simple but so fun, and the puzzles are perfectly balanced between relaxing and challenging.

It’s wholesome and just plain enjoyable.
